CREATIVE | CONSULTANT | CHANGEMAKER

Kylie Burton's lifelong passion for the arts, health and education has culminated in freelance work as a body image and education consultant, author and keynote speaker. Drawing on several decades of both industry and lived experience, Kylie now advocates for a growing shift in dance culture and nutrition education, towards safer and more inclusive practices.

At the age of 15, Kylie began training with the Queensland Ballet, completing a Diploma of the Queensland Dance School of Excellence, and Advanced Royal Academy of Dance examinations. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Graduate Diploma in Education and certificates in Counselling, AustSwim and Auslan. Kylie has worked as a professional contemporary dancer with Australian Dance Theatre, and has taught and choreographed for both private dance studios and community performances. She has also spent over two decades teaching Dance, The Arts, Health, Physical Education and Swimming in both primary and secondary schools. Kylie has regularly been invited to work as an artist in residence, dance competition judge, and sessional lecturer in Dance Education at QUT. She has also performed for many years as a singer/songwriter.

As a creative who has spent her career presenting to large audiences, Kylie understands the pressures and scrutiny of high level performance, including the impact of eating disorders, injuries and burnout. Despite now living with her own permanent impairments following a car accident, she continues to make significant contributions to the community. Kylie connects and collaborates with global body image, nutrition and eating disorder prevention experts, who are leading the way with research, education and resources, to address the complexities and nuances of maintaining health and wellbeing across the lifespan.

Kylie's network includes a broad community of artists, writers, educators, and health promotion activists who share a common vision ~ to continue to CREATE, CONTRIBUTE, and drive positive CHANGE for the next generation, despite ageism, or disability.

I can't tone down.

And the silver lining to getting older, is experience."
