CREATIVE | CONSULTANT | CHANGEMAKER

Kylie Burton's lifelong passion for the arts, health and education has culminated in work as a dance and education consultant, author and keynote speaker. Drawing on several decades of both industry and lived experience, Kylie now advocates for a growing shift in dance culture and nutrition education, towards safer and more inclusive practices.

At the age of 15, Kylie began full-time training with the Queensland Ballet, attaining both a Diploma of the Queensland Dance School of Excellence, and Advanced Royal Academy of Dance examinations. After completing an Bachelor of Arts, she joined the Australian Dance Theatre company and has since taught and choreographed for countless schools, private dance studios and public performances. She has also performed for many years as a singer/songwriter.

After completing a Graduate Diploma in Education and additional certificates in Counselling, AustSwim, and Auslan, Kylie taught Dance, Drama, HPE, Swimming, English and Learning Support for over two decades. She has also worked as a dance competition judge, Junior Arts Coordinator, Waterfront Director, Health Club Frontline Coordinator and Sessional University Lecturer in Dance Education at QUT.

As a creative who has spent her career presenting to large audiences, Kylie understands the pressures and scrutiny of high level performance, including body image challenges and the impact of eating disorders, injuries and burnout. In 2024, her story was published in the anthology, Rising into Greatness: stories from inspiring and courageous women.

Since retiring from teaching, Kylie continues to connect and collaborate with body image, nutrition and eating disorder prevention experts, who are leading the way with the latest research, education and resources. Her network includes a broad community of artists, writers, educators, and health promotion activists who share a common vision ~ to continue to CREATE, COLLABORATE, and drive positive CHANGE for the next generation.

I can't tone down.

And the silver lining to getting older, is experience."
